FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
19th May 2019

Dear Parishioner,

Today is a very special day in the life of our parish community. Fourteen of our young children are receiving Jesus for the first time in their life. Something that they have been cherishing and preparing for a long time in their life. As a community we have been accompanying them with our prayers and support for this day. Let us pray today in a special way that, the Jesus, who is coming into their hearts, may remain with them forever. Let us continue to pray for them, so that they may grow with the parish community in their faith and become true Christians, witnessing to the Christ living within them.

Let us all today renew our faith in the real presence of Jesus in the bread and wine in which we all take part and share. He is truly present in the wheat bread and wine with his promise to live with us forever. In today's gospel Jesus reminds us that he cannot be with us forever. But he wanted to be with us always. That is why he instituted the sacrament of the holy Eucharist. In the bread we eat and the chalice we share we eat and drink the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

So as we gather in our church let us be united by his command of love, by which he wanted us to be identified in the society in which we live. The love of god has united us, and let us unite each other in that love. May this Eucharistic celebration enable us to take part in the mystery of salvation achieved through his body and blood.

Once again congratulations to all the children, their parents and family members, catechists and all of us who assisted them to make their dream come true. And my dear children, we pray for you that you may be able to receive Jesus as often as possible in your life.

SEND, O LORD: HOLY APOSTLES INTO YOUR CHURCH
