SIXTEENTH SUNDAY OF YEAR A
19th July 2020
Dear Parishioner,
Today we celebrate the Sixteenth Sunday of the Year.
In the Gospel we read Jesus said "I will speak to you in parables". Today's reading is the parable of the
sower.
In general we reap what we sow. We can't expect to reap good if we have sown evil. We must sow peace if we do not
want to reap conflict. We must sow loyalty if we do not want to reap betrayal. We must sow honesty if we do not want to
reap deceit.
So let us sow with good seed.
God bless,
Deacon Kevin.
Notices:
- Gardening thanks! A huge thank you from the Parish to Vince who has kept our side garden at the
church looking so beautiful. It is much appreciated.
- Mass thanks! A very big thank you to all those people who helped to arrange our church for
re-opening and all those who are giving up their time to act as stewards to enable us all to attend Mass safely.
- Mass intentions: as we restart our public celebration of mass, if you have any particular
intentions for mass, please collect a brown envelope from church or write clearly your intentions on an envelope at home
and drop it at the church or at the presbytery.

people and older pilgrims are each walking 18 miles to total the 792 miles from Brentwood to Lourdes. Money raised from
donations and sponsorship will be split between Cafod's support for those across the world suffering from
Coronavirus, and our own BCYS youth ministry, and donations can be made online at www.bcys.net/donate or send a cheque payable to "BRCDT Youth Service" to Fr Dominic, 18

Year 6 Leavers' Mass. At a time when it is hard for pupils and parents to gather in school a
special Year 6 Leavers Mass will be Livestreamed from Walsingham House at Abbotswick next Wednesday, 22nd July, at
10am. Everyone is welcome online, and all the details are at https://bcys.net/events/year6leavers/. The direct link to the YouTube broadcast is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W1nT6OZw0I&feature=youtu.be and the Mass includes a message from
Bishop Alan for Year 6 pupils. We hope this will be a lovely moment for Year 6s, perhaps together with parents and
grandparents, to mark many precious memories from primary school, and the transition to secondary school. The theme for
the Mass is from Ephesians 2:10, "You are God's work of art".
